The Shrewsbury Public Library
The Shrewsbury Public Library started in 1792. It was funded by Jubal Howe, a rich Shrewsbury resident who was a successful watch and jewelry maker. General Artemas Ward's family also donated $25,000 for the purpose of building an annex. They named the annex after General Artemas Ward.
In 1959, the Shrewsbury Public Library got its first ever bookmobile that replaced their current outreach service van. In 1978, the town decided to do a major renovation project to the library. Later on in 2015 and 2016 they remodeled and expanded the library.
I visited the library myself and could barely recognize it as my Shrewsbury library! It had changed a lot. Instead of two floors there are three. When you're going upstairs you can see this beautiful stained glass window. If you go there and try stealing a book (don't try it) you'll hear this loud beeping sound then you'll have to return the book. Book drop can be done into the new book slot: just put a book in therr and it gets sucked up. I recommend you go there. It's fantastic! It is located on 609 Main St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
